I was also excited that your daughter is now an apprentice under you and can apprentice how wonderful it must be to share your work with her.

I’m from a very small town in Iowa and how I got such a fascination and appreciation for mechanical watches at a very early age, I will never know. Bought my first watch when is was 16 and had enough money to buy a Seiko “Pogue”, which was one of the first automatic chronographs at the time (so I have read) I’m 64 now and see it is truly an art. Je ne suis pas horloger pour parler ainsi mais un grand passionné des « tocantes » et en vous lisant à travers votre site je mesure à quel point vous êtes unique !
Unique par votre façon de penser le métier ! Vous représentez la quintessence de ce que je me suis toujours imaginé (enfant) du merveilleux métier d’horloger : réaliser un garde temps avec ses propres mains. Cela est juste MAGNIFIQUE.
Enfant je regardais les magasines avec des pages survitaminées de marketing et je pensais avec une grande crédulité, je l’avoue, qu’un magnifique El Priméro, qu’une sublime Dayto avec mouvement mécanique était l’oeuvre d’homme passionnés devant leur établis avec leur outils.
J’avoue que ma crédulité a durée longtemps au point de vouloir absolument entrer en possession de tels chef d’oeuvre. Et puis m’intéressant de plus en plus à ce domaine et en voulant lister les meilleurs , comme si la recherche du graal m’arrétait à Patek, Csapek, L.Leroy…. je tombe sur vos chefs d’oeuvre et là, là je retombe sur terre avec mes croyances tenaces. Même si j’avais conscience qu’une Rolex n’est autre qu’une belle montre industrielle comme Mercedes est une belle voiture, je croyais dur comme fer que les autres tenaient le haut du pavé. Le haut pavé du marketing à n’en point douté. Merci à vous à travers votre histoire, vos réalisations de m’avoir montrer que le rêve que je m’était imaginé existe réellement : des montres faites main et réalisées par la passion d’un seul homme.

Firstly, I am a fan of the the world of horology. In particular the technical aspects of the whole movement. The whole process of a moving seconds hand right from the power source of the mainspring gets me intrigue every single. The winding of the crown, hearing the mainspring winds up is like when I see my first born’s heart beating through the ultrasound. Hence my preference for the manually wound calibre. There is just so much enjoyment.
My horological journey started only about 15 years back. And I am slowly but surely appreciating the art and work put into this industry by the respective watchmakers. No doubt many of them have different styles but all simply super.
Just thought I’d leave this note here. Also, hoping to acquire one of your masterpieces one fine day.

Comment vous exprimer toute mon admiration… je ne le sais pas vraiment. Vos montres sont merveilleuses, d’une élégance que l’on ne trouve pas ou plus chez de grandes maisons horlogères.
J’ai regardé beaucoup de documentaires sur la réalisation de vos montres, la fabrication de chaque visse, chaque pignon…J’étais tellement impressionné devant tant de précision, de patience, de qualité
Pour un jeune passionné d’horlogerie que je suis vous êtes plus qu’un maître en la matière.
Je vous remercie très humblement de faire perdurer cette tradition horlogère, ce que vous faîtes avec passion.

I have enjoyed rediscovering who Philippe Dufour the Grand horological Master is. It was a pure pleasure to read all the information, watch all the videos and understand the philosophy of the greatest watchmaker in today’s world. We haven’t been blessed to be around when Breguet for instance revolutionised the watch industry but we sure are humbled and honoured to have lived through the period where you Sir have changed the world of watchmaking. On a personal note I am very overwhelmed to have someone I respect and admire from my part of the world to be called your brother. Claude Sfeir is one of the best figures in the watch industry and world. A true humble gentleman. And your partnership is simply the best. I look forward to what the future brings. And I am willing to wait not 6 years but even 60 to have the great honour to one day wear one of your watches.

I am a great admirer of your watches. Please make another watch for my family to enjoy for years to come!
